Bandits attack army commander’s convoy and kill six soldiers

Gunmen, locally known as bandits, killed six soldiers responding to an attack in Tati, a local government village of Takum in the northeastern state of Taraba, the Nigerian military said in a statement. internal obtained by PREMIUM TIMES.

According to a signal sent by the Nigerian Army 93 Battalion in Takum, the battalion commander, ES Okore, a Lieutenant Colonel, has still not been found.

The signal said the incident happened around 10 a.m. on May 10. He said the bandits in the clash outnumbered the troops.

The signal also indicated that the number of casualties on the enemy side could not be confirmed.

He also disclosed that troops in Donga while in Ananum village killed two bandits while others fled with gunshot wounds.

He said the troops recovered 1 AK47 rifle, two AK47 magazines, 7.62mm rounds, a pistol, 7 rounds of 9mm ammunition, a locally made gun, charms and the sum of N15,120 , bandits after the encounter.

Additionally, soldiers returning from a reinforcement operation in Marraraba were ambushed but performed anti-ambush drills and fought off the ambush.

The memo said troops were still conducting search and rescue operations.

Taraba in the North East region is seeing an upsurge in crime with an increase in kidnappings for ransom in the state capital, Jalingo, and bandit attacks on the rise in other parts of the state.
