Coleen Rooney fights back tears saying Wayne’s cheating with escorts is ‘unacceptable’

Coleen Rooney couldn’t help but be emotional as she bravely opened up about her cheating husband Wayne in the new documentary about the footballer’s life and career.
A string of sex scandals blighted the former England star’s career and the mother-of-four had tears in her eyes and struggled to get her words across as she explained once and for all why she had taken her husband back so many times.
“I wouldn’t be here if I hadn’t forgiven him,” says Coleen in the new documentary Rooney, which premiered on Prime Video Friday.
“Life goes on and I accepted, well not accepted, I moved on, you moved on and this is…” Coleen struggled.
And when asked if she had accepted her husband’s infidelity, she replied: “No, not the behavior no, it’s not acceptable”, she replied.

But Coleen says she learned to forgive her childhood sweetheart and let go of her anger.
“Forgiveness is different, I would say different,” she said.
“I wouldn’t, it’s not acceptable what he did but it happened and it was the stage of life we were in at the time but we moved on.
“I forgive him but it was not acceptable.
“But it’s not something that, if it came up, we would be talking about as if we were talking about it now, I don’t have the anger that I had then.”

And Wayne explained that the couple had to work through their issues – which starts with him explaining every indiscretion to his wife.
“When these things happened, we sat down and I explained what happened and it’s not nice, it’s not a good thing to do,” he said.
“It won’t happen again, I don’t want it to happen again and for us to get through it was difficult.
“Tough days, tough weeks, tough months, but I feel like we’ve been through some tough times and that also makes you stronger.”
Coleen admits she finds it incredible that they are still together after Wayne started visiting prostitutes when he was 16.

Coleen managed to ignore Wayne’s past with sex workers – despite national outcry – and married him in 2008.
“We are lucky to both have the strength and support from each other and the people around us to keep going and trying,” she said.
“And that’s something we had to work on.”
The highly anticipated documentary film Rooney will launch on Prime Video on Friday, February 11.
