Commander of the Northern Army in Leh on a 4-day visit

Northern Army Commander Lt. Gen. Upendra Dwivedi traveled to Leh on Monday for a four-day visit to the world’s highest battlefield to review training, operational readiness and the introduction of modern weapon systems, equipment and logistical means under the Make in India initiative.
In a tweet posted today by Northern Command today, it read: “Lt. Gen. The visit comes a day after the country’s top military leaders stressed that the main motive for implementing the Agnipath program was to bring more young people into the armed forces.
Lt. Gen. Anil Puri, Additional Secretary of the Department of Military Affairs, speaking on the Agnipath project, at a press conference, said, “This reform has been pending for a long time.”
Lt. Gen. Puri said: “Announcements regarding bookings for ‘Agniveers announced by the various ministries and departments were pre-planned and not in reaction to the arson attack which occurred after the program was announced. Agnipath.”
He said Agniveers would receive compensation of one million rupees if he sacrificed his life in the service of the nation. Lieutenant General Puri said, “The ‘Agniveers would receive the same allowance in areas like Siachen and other areas that apply to regular soldiers currently serving.”
He said, “In the next 4-5 years, the recruitment of soldiers will be 50,000-60,000 and will increase to 90,000 – 1 lakh thereafter.” He said the process of recruiting 46,000 Agniveers has started analyzing the program and building the capacity of the infrastructure.
Air Marshal Suraj Jha, Air Officer, said the IAF will begin recruitment under Agniveers under the Agnipath program from June 24. Air Marshal Jha said the first group would be enrolled by December and training would begin by December 30.
Earlier, Northern Army Commander, Lt. Gen. Upendra Dwivedi, AVSM arrived in Srinagar for his three-day visit to Kashmir from June 15-17. He visited forward posts on the Line of Control and the hinterland to review the overall security situation in Kashmir. Valley.
On the first day of his visit to JK, the army commander addressed the media on the outlines of the government’s Agnipath reform programme. He underlined the importance of the program and briefed the media on the different facets of the program.
He added that this will reform the human resource management system of not only the Indian Army but also the Northern Command and will also have a positive impact on operational readiness. (ANI)
