The United States Coast Guard Academy offers an unparalleled opportunity to attend an elite career college that charges zero tuition and guarantees a challenging and rewarding career upon graduation.
Located in New London, CT, approximately 200 graduates are appointed each year as Coast Guard officers to help ensure the safety, security, and stewardship of American waters.
When the incoming Class of 2026 arrives on June 27, approximately 300 young women and men will begin their training to become the future leaders of America’s multi-mission maritime military force.
According to current estimates, around 43% of the new class are women, which will be the highest number ever recorded in an incoming class, and 38% belong to underrepresented minority groups. Nine international students from the Dominican Republic, the Philippines, Vietnam, Honduras, Palau, Guyana and Taiwan are also expected to join the class.
During their first day at the Academy, Swabs (as new cadets are called) begin an intense seven-week training program – Swab Summer – designed to transform civilian students into military personnel ready to accept the challenges ahead. in their quest to become Coast Guard officers.
