Nigerians hit police as former BBNaija roommate moves with four armed escorts
Nigerian police have come under attack after a viral photo of Big Brother Naija’s (BBNaija) former roommate Terseer Waya, popularly known as Kiddwaya, with his officers appeared online.
Kiddwaya shared photos on Instagram on Wednesday where he had around four armed police as escorts.
It has not been welcomed by Nigerians who have called the police for giving the reality TV celebrity such security, as insecurity grows in many parts of the country.
However, some hailed Kiddwaya, who has billionaire father Terry Waya, explaining that the level of kidnapping in the country was reason enough for him to have such security.
It comes shortly after Inspector General of Police Usman Baba ordered the removal of senior police officers from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Here are some comments the Daily Post collected on Twitter:
@ 4eyedmonk: “A total of four policemen for a private citizen who can easily get hold of akpu obi bouncers?” Police, this image puts the force and the new IGP to shame.
@Leosessy: “What is the job of our private security teams? Four police officers for one celebrity is not morally fair.
@Debo: “This is the reason why we have security problems in this country. Police officers supposed to guide ordinary citizens were attached to questionable VIPs. “
@Ufomma: “Any police IG that does not have the cancellation of the VIP police as a priority number 1, starting with the men of god (because they already have the anointing), does not take it seriously. ‘insecurity!
@Thepublicdefender: “All the lies about the removal of police personnel attached to individuals. “
@YahayaNeutral “The Nigerian police are for the rich and famous, not ordinary Nigerians. In a country where we complain about being under the police and many security issues, we have four policemen who are just guarding one individual. “
@Berbzz: “It’s such a shame. If you have the money, hire private security.
@ DJ_Sp4all: “It looks like the Nigerian police system is a private security system run by the federal government. The highest bidder wins everything. No wonder the common man is not served enough. That’s a shame.”
@negromaniacs: “It’s not his fault though, the system that made this possible is to blame. NPF has no respect. Now imagine the number of people across the country doing the same to protect the rich Thousands who should fight crime, even Miyetti Allah too.
@ Psalm35_: “We have private titles in Nigeria, why don’t they use them? VIPs cannot use the police in South Africa, they use private security.
@Ladeepee: “Do you know how much he is worth if he gets kidnapped?” Abeg let him use 100 of them if he needs them too. Prevention is better.
@Martolerix: “If kidnappers get their hands on him, do you know how much dollars they’re going to charge? Abeg lets him protect himself and his life in a country where even police stations use chains to protect their generator from thieves. “
@Dique_money: “Oh my God, three military grade guns, three magazines (probably 1 extra each), hundreds of bullets to protect one civilian.” Something is wrong somewhere.
@YolandaMny: “The problem isn’t Kidd running a security company that hires cops, it’s your government paying your police department so badly it needs a little help. Stay focused, face Buhari.
@Abazeesi: “Why are you moving around with all these guards for fear of being kidnapped?” Someone should explain because I don’t understand. “
@MrWick: “I thought they said the new IG removed all the policemen attached to the VIPs; everything is audio in this Nigeria.
