Paul Burrell says Kate will ‘play the peacekeeper’ and reunite William and Harry today
Paul Burrell has said Kate Middleton will play the role of “peacekeeper” and “hold the key” to reuniting Princes William and Harry today.
The former butler of Princess Diana, 62, said the couple would return to Kensington Palace and meet the Duchess of Cambridge after revealing a statue of their mother on what would have been her 60th birthday.
He added that if the couple are unable to reconcile on this “poignant day” they “never will,” as he spoke with Adil Ray and Kate Garraway on ITV Good Morning Britain from his home in Italy.
Prince Harry traveled to London from his California home to mark his mother’s birthday. He will join William this afternoon as he unveils a sculpture created in his honor by Ian Rank-Broadley and placed in the renovated gardens of Kensington Palace filled with 4,000 of his favorite plants and flowers.
The brothers, who will arrive at the event together but will deliver separate speeches, have texted England’s historic victory over Germany after 18 months of freezing near silence following a reported feud.

When Adil asked if he thought their mother would reunite them, Paul added, “Hopefully. And thank goodness 24 years after his death we have a tangible touchstone in his memory about the boys’ family. .
âIf this poignant day doesn’t do it, then nothing will. Because if they are standing there in front of the image of their mother, just think and consider what she would have wanted.
âThey will return to Kensington Palace after the ceremony, which will be very small and very quick.
“Then they’ll meet Kate inside, and I think Kate holds the key to that, I think she’s the peacekeeper.”
âThis is the person who is going to bring these boys together, there is a lot of work to be done, because a lot of things have been said. She is the answer because she stands in between and sees it unfold.
âThe boys spent their years of grieving together, they got closer and closer, and then suddenly there was this massive riff that developed between them, so Kate witnessed that firsthand.

“She knows William wants this to work so these boys can stand together, their mother wants them to hang out together.”
âHis ideal idea was that Harry would support William when he ascended the throne.
âIt was his job to take care of his brother, and they would be there together, helping each other.
âRemember, Diana was a great monarchist, she supported the Queen and Prince Philip, and she loved the institution that boys were born into.
“She was very proud that her boys were royals, and she would like them to continue that way, I think there will be a role for Harry in the future when William becomes king.”
Royal expert and biographer Angela Levin was also on the show, who said she didn’t think the brothers would be able to find common ground.

âMy take is Prince Harry has been deciding for quite some time and that’s even before he’s absolutely had enough of being the second spare, the one who still has to pick up the pieces so to speak.
âI think he established himself as the voice and the feeling of his mother.
âWilliam is pragmatic, he loves his mother all the same, but he tries to fit in with her life, he said, I want that not to make me break.
âHarry was very, very mean when he said that Prince William and Prince Charles are stuck and you know that is demeaning the whole thing. He wants to take on the role of Diana and be like her in the future.
âI’m sorry for being harsh because I spent over a year with Prince Harry, I thought he was wonderful. I think he has completely changed. I think he sees he has his heritage. I don’t think it’s very nice to describe your father as a lousy parent.
