Sheriff’s office to begin funeral escorts for military veterans

PORTSMOUTH — Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman has announced his office will begin providing free family funeral escorts for U.S. military veterans.
“I believe providing this service to those who have sacrificed and served this great nation is a tribute that must be paid. We must honor the men and women who have given of themselves to ensure that we enjoy our freedoms,” Thoroughman said. “I would like to thank Special Assistant Greg Rucker, a brother Air Force veteran, for offering to honor our veterans in this way. Special Assistant Rucker is a valuable asset to this office, always offering his services to improve our community. He has made arrangements with area funeral homes on how to request this service.
