The Delta State Police Command has arrested six suspects in the murder of a prince of the Kingdom of Orhuwhorun, Eric Takerere, and two itinerant police officers.

State Police Acting Public Relations Officer DSP Bright Edafe said this in Asaba on Wednesday.

He said: “As a result of the murder case investigated in the command in which a prince of Orhuwhorun, Eric Takerere, and two mobile policemen were murdered and their rifles carried away as well as the attempted of murder of Eric’s brother, Prince Franklyn Takerere, the command, under the leadership of CP Muhammed Ali, ordered the arrest of the fleeing gang members.

“On September 6, 2021, police officers from the Delta State Anti-Kidnapping and Cybercrime Squad conducted a diligent and thorough investigation of a 27-year-old Godspower Agabarhayowe and Tony Edwin, who were arrested two months in connection with the murder.

“They drove police officers to their hiding places in Udu, Warri and Aladja regions, where six suspects: Onoriode Shefo, alias Chikago, 36; Omagbeosa Sholla, 30 years old; Godwin Obukoemu, alias Million, 30 years old; Ejime Mugagbam, 34; Ejiroghenen Nushe, 24; and Egho Monday, 28, were arrested.

“They all confessed to being involved in the murder of Prince Eric Takerere and the two itinerant police officers.

“They also led officers to their arsenal, where two AK-47 rifles, a pump pistol, a locally made pistol, four magazines, 76 rounds of live ammunition and 38 rounds of live rounds were recovered. ”

In another development, a suspected armed robber was shot dead by police in the Aladja region of the state.

According to the PPRO, the divisional police officer of Ovwian Aladja received a distress call indicating that armed thieves were operating in the community of Obogo.

He said the DPO had mobilized a patrol team and community vigilantes to the scene.

Edafe said the thugs engaged the team in a gun duel, adding that one of the thieves suffered serious gunshot wounds, while two others escaped.

H explained that the injured suspect died while being treated at a nearby hospital.

Police spokesman said a locally made pistol, with an actual cartridge, was recovered from him.
