The Armed Forces would always respect the Constitution – Army Commander

VSChief of Defense Staff and Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva said yesterday that Sri Lanka’s armed forces will always abide by the Constitution and the army is no exception.
The Chief of the Defense Staff was addressing a meeting yesterday to brief defense advisers and defense attachés from diplomatic missions in Colombo on the status quo.
The military as a professional outfit is always ready to provide state security and protection if needed,” said Chief of the Defense Staff and Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva,
The purpose of the meeting was to keep these foreign defense advisers/attaches informed of the current situation.
Captain Ian Keith Cain, Defense Adviser (Australia), Commander, Mr Shafil Bari, Defense Adviser, Bangladesh, Senior Colonel Wan Dong, Military, Naval and Air Attaché (China), Lieutenant Colonel Chang Qianjin, Naval Attaché and Deputy Air Force, (China), Captain Vikas Sood, Defense Advisor (India), Lieutenant Colonel Punnet Sushill, Deputy Defense Advisor, (India), Colonel Homayou Ali Yari, Military Attaché, (Iran), Captain Gaku Fukaura, Defense Attaché / Security, (Japan), Colonel Ismail Naseer, Defense Advisor, (Maldives), Colonel Muhammad Safdar Khan, Defense Advisor, (Pakistan), Colonel Aleksey A Bondarev, Military, Naval and Air Attaché, (Russia), Colonel PJ Clayton, Defense Adviser, (United Kingdom) and Lieutenant Commander Richard Lister, Naval Attaché (United States of America) were present at this meeting.
