Thousands of demonstrators in Khartoum against the decisions of the army commander

Thousands of Sudanese took to the streets of the capital Al-Khartoum on Saturday to protest the decisions of Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, the army commander, while the authorities responded by closing all bridges in the face of the demonstrators.
Meanwhile, Western countries have renewed their rejection of unilateral military measures and the United Nations demanded the immediate release of the detainees.
A number of unions, political parties and resistance committees had set the date for the second parade on Saturday to oppose “the coup” and call for the return of the civilian government and the withdrawal of the military from the political scene ” once for all “. for everyone”.
For their part, the authorities closed all the bridges connecting the towns of Al-Khartoum and Omdurman with concrete barriers and barbed wire, and imposed security measures, and deployed heavily armed forces, while guarding three open decks.
Sudanese forces closed Africa Street parallel to Khartoum Airport at “Lafet Al-Hareef” station and prevented crossing from there to downtown Khartoum. They also deployed forces around government institutions and markets in central Khartoum.
Protests erupted against Al-Burhan’s unilateral decision to announce his presidency of a new Sovereignty Council, which includes military leaders and civilians from different parts of Sudan.
In statements to the media, a spokesperson for the Sudanese Professionals Association called Al-Burhan’s proceedings unconstitutional, stressing that the rally will continue to escalate.
Al-Burhan was sworn in as chairman of the board on Friday, Mohamed Hamdan Hemedti was also sworn in as vice chairman of the board.
Meanwhile, the Troika countries (the United States, the United Kingdom and Norway), the European Union and Switzerland have expressed concern over Al-Burhan’s unilateral maneuvers. They called, in a joint statement, for the return to power of Sudanese Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok and his government.
Three weeks ago, Al-Burhan declared a state of emergency in all governorates in the country, dissolving the Sovereignty Council and the cabinet. He also announced the suspension of certain articles of the constitutional document.
