US Army Commander Attends Closing Ceremony of ‘Hanuman Guardian’ in Thailand

Gen. Charles Flynn, commanding general of the U.S. Army Pacific, is in Thailand to discuss security cooperation with his Royal Thai Army counterparts and a number of senior government officials.

Gen. Flynn attended the closing ceremony of the Hanuman Guardian, an annual bilateral exercise between the Royal Thai Army and the U.S. Pacific Army, and visited the sites of several significant cooperative activities between the U.S. and Thai military.
This will be General Flynn’s first visit to Thailand as commanding general of the United States Army Pacific. The US official has a long history of engagements with Thailand dating back to his first visit in 1997 as a major participating in the annual Cobra Gold military exercise.
General Flynn’s visit, which ends Friday, March 25, is part of ongoing engagements to advance shared security goals, increase the complexity of military exercises, assist Thailand’s military modernization and promote an Indo -Free and open Pacific. (NNT)
