Major in the Indo-Chinese War of 1962, Brigadier Jatar commanded the 13 Bravo and Delta companies from Kumaon to Mugger Hill during the Battle of Rezang La.
Rajnath Singh dedicated the monument to the nation and said it was a symbol of the indomitable courage of the Indian military which he said is not “only immortal in the pages of history, but also beats in our hearts “.
âThe historic battle of Rezang La, fought at an altitude of 18,000 feet, is difficult to imagine even today. Major Shaitan Singh and his comrades in arms fought to the last blow and the last breath and wrote a new chapter of bravery and sacrifice. PTI quoted him as saying.
